The roots of the Blueshounds can be traced back over 27 years when Rick Edwards-Poley and Bart Barton came together for the first time in The Blind Lemon Blues Band. They were soon joined by Bart’s old school chum and previous musical conspirator Dave Browning and the evolution began. Blind Lemon Blues Band, melded into Hocus Pocus Blues, then finally into Blueshounds. The band became the consummate ‘Good Times’ blues band and guardians of the “Juke Joint” vibe, playing in pubs, clubs, festivals corporate and exclusive private parties. At one time or another most counties in the UK have been gigged.
The fundamental line-up of 3 has remained consistently rock sold, but the drumming stool has seen a few changes, covered most notably by, Arthur Haskey, Richard King, Johnny Sticks, Colin Stedman, Charlie Hart and Ade Ashcroft, but is now most ably driven along with an EU / Español gusto by the one and only Kostka Garcia.
Playing the blues in all its flavours, the ancient art of weaving, entertaining and giving an audience what a good-times blues band should. Full on Juke Jive, roll back the carpets and sing and dance to closing time.
In the summer of 2018 the band went back into the studio to capture some of the new tunes they were adding to their set list. These new tracks show again the breadth of the Blues as a genre and the band’s capacity to cover all styles.
More is to come as they still have a huge enthusiasm and appetite to keep on keeping on.
